Javier Leiva is a professor of English at Northwestern University. He earned his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1992. His research interests include children’s literature, race and ethnic studies, and popular culture. He is the author or editor of several books, including The Annotated Cat: The Cats of Animation (2006), The Annotated Frog and Toad (2007), and The Horn Book Guide to Children’s and Young Adult Literature (2010). He has also written articles for academic journals such as Children’s Literature Association Quarterly and Children’s Literature in Education.
